Collaborative Activities between BIOVERSITY/COGENT and Pakistan

1. Capacity Building
a) Technical assistance/expert advice
In 1994, one expert was sent to Pakistan to assess the country’s R&D capability as well as to assist the national programme in identifying common problems, opportunities and projects for network collaboration.
b) Training and human resources development
Two local staff from different collaborating research institutions in the country underwent BIOVERSITY-COGENT-sponsored staff development training on the use of the STANTECH manual; technical writing, seminar presentation and proposal writing; coconut data analysis; and MSPGR.
c) COGENT meetings/workshops
No COGENT-initiated or –sponsored meetings or workshops have been conducted in Pakistan.
2. Research Projects
To date, there was only one project completed in the country by the Pakistan Agriculture Research Institute (PARC).
3. Financial Support and Funding
Donor financial support to projects in Pakistan amounts to US$14,487, primarily from ADB, while national counterpart funding for the same stands at US$5,000.
