COGENT International Thematic Action Group on Communication

The COGENT secretariat is currently assuming the leadership of the Communication ITAG. When an appropriate international team will be constituted, ITAG members will have to designate their leader by consensus or voting process.

The main objectives of this ITAG for the next two years are:

Increase the commitment at local, national and global levels to the conservation and use of coconut genetic resources.
Develop a communication strategy focusing on the specific needs and concerns of coconut stakeholders and consumers, and targeting as main priorities small farmers and decision-makers.
To develop national and international projects for funding the production of video guidelines and other communication tools and their dissemination through TV channels, Internet and other media.

Some of the projects to be developed are described in the recommendation 10 of the 16th Steering Committee Meeting of the International Coconut Genetic Resources Network (COGENT) held from 8th to 10th July 2012, in Kochi, Kerala, India.
